I’m not sure if this is the total end of Ultragroove, or if they plan to return in more blazing glory at a later date, but the club are calling it a day at the Cab after nine years as one of the helm clubs. For their final party they’ve scored Julio Bashmore, one of the hottest UK talents in deep and bass-loaded house. Support comes from The Blessings (LuckyMe), Andrew Pirie (Melting Pot), and of course resident Gareth Sommerville, spinning deep house and disco.

The weekend starts off with Co-Op, at the Sub Club (11pm-3am, £3 / £2) with rotating DJs from Glasgow clubs on Thursday 2nd and continues with Cryotec at the Classic Grand, taking a darker route through EBM, industrial and electronica (11pm-3am, £3 / students free). Jurassic jungle and dnb shudders the School of Art on the same evening, hosted by Djamba (10.30pm-3am, £4 / £3 before midnight), while Mixed Bizness are next door in the GSA Assembly Halls with S-Type, Sam and Shaun Vitamins for a wide range of beats, breaks, and bleeps (10.30pm-3am, £4 / £3 before midnight).

On Friday 3rd June, Croc Madame vs Croc Monsieur bid a special farewell party with eight live bands and a foam party, including Cut Hands, Ben Butler & Mousepad, Gummy Stumps and Iain Campbell, as they say goodbye to the Glasgow School of Art’s Vic Bar, the week before it is renovated (10pm-3am, free). Starting with Friday 4th of March, The Art School sees Bass Warrior Sound System take on Riddim Tuffa and J Bostron for reggae, dancehall and jungle, with DJ Dirtsman at the helm (11pm-3am, £6 / £5), and the newest talent in electro, techno, house and trance DJs is being found on the same night at The Soundhaus with the FreshLICK DJ Competition (10pm-1am, £6). The Arches host house legendary night Colours, featuring Wolfgang Gartner, AN21 (Steve Angello’s younger brother!), and Max Vangeli; the latter duo have recently launched new night Parliament. (10pm-3am, £15). .Finally, Jelly Roll Soul (a night inspired by Charles Mingus and Theo Parrish) welcome Eglo Records’ FunkinEven to La Cheetah to add the acid, disco and funk to their well-fired house (11pm-3am, £10).

Saturday 5th March kicks off with Pass The Peas at Stereo, featuring funk and soul with special live guests Federation of the Disco Pimp (11pm-3am, £5), but there’s a sweeter touch round the corner when Subcity have their Sweet Sixteen at The Arches. The event celebrates the University of Glasgow’s radio station and it’s birthday, with guests Beat Beneath, Chungo-Bungo, Datarape, Dim Sum, HaHaHa vs Raksha, Jackie Your Body, Kaleidoscope, One More Tune and Synth (11pm-3am, £10 / £8 adv).


Aberdeen and Dundee

It’s another packed Death Disco, scouring the roster of music’s next big thing. In fact, maybe change their motto to ‘you heard it here first’? Hush Puppy and Josh Jones support.

Co-op, the collective of four Glasgow clubs (Orderly Disorder, Dirty Noise, Mount Heart Attack and Scrabble) have invested in their first guest, and it’s none other than Derrick Carter; Chicago-house DJ legend peppering his sets with flirtations of jazz, disco, soul and funk. The Co-op residents support, with visuals from Mediaheroic.
